The word “GOAT” is an acronym for “Greatest of All Time”. An athlete is considered the “GOAT” if they are considered the best, or most decorated, or most accomplished athlete to have ever played their sport. GOAT debates contest who is the “GOAT” of a particular sport. For example, debating who is the greatest men’s tennis player of all time: Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, or Roger Federer. GOAT debates have become increasingly common across sports media. ESPN’s First Take debates Michael Jordan versus LeBron James, Sky Sports debates Lionel Messi versus Cristiano Ronaldo, baseball podcasts debate Shohei Ohtani versus Babe Ruth, etc.

The NBA and WNBA each have their own players’ associations: the NBPA and the WNBPA. These unions negotiate separately with league management on issues such as pay, revenue sharing, health care, and contract rules. 

The Māori All Blacks are an indigenous national rugby team that operates within the New Zealand Ruby national governing body. They play international test matches, but do not compete in major premier international tournaments like the Rugby World Cup or the Rugby Championship. You can play for the Māori All Blacks and still be eligible for the All Blacks and vice-versa. 

The Haudenosaunee Nationals are an indigenous national lacrosse team that is fully sovereign and independent. They are not a part of Canada’s or the USA’s lacrosse systems. They compete and often times medal at the Lacrosse World Cup and other major international lacrosse tournaments. Playing for the Haudenosaunee Nationals would make you ineligible to play for the United States or Canada (unless you are able to transfer nationality under the World Lacrosse rules) and vice versa.

America's National Football League (NFL) generates $21.2 billion in annual revenue (the most in the world).  Protestant Churches in the USA generate roughly $40 billion in annual revenue.  Every Sunday, an estimated 70 million Americans watch the NFL (2.8 million watch at stadiums in person).  An estimated 45 million Americans attend a Christian Church on a Sunday.
